General FAQs
What type of skin rejuvenation services do you offer?
When we age, dead cells accumulate in the superficial layer of the skin (epidermis), collagen and elastin begin to disappear and thin out in the inner layer of the skin (dermis). The objective of any skin rejuvenation procedure is to exfoliate the epidermis so that nutrient and anti-aging agents can be easily absorbed. Laser and IPL are used to stimulate collagen production to restore the fullness of the skin and reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
What precautions should I take before or after my treatment?
Treatment requirements vary. With some treatments, we require patients to avoid sun exposure for 4-6 weeks and again after treatment until their physician allows it. Consult your practitioner for specific precautions that relate to your individualized treatment plan.
How long will my treatment last and how many treatments will I need?
Every treatment, like every patient, is unique. Our physician can help you decide what is best for you based on your needs and expectations.
How do I make an appointment for services?
Contact the office and speak to one of our staff, who will schedule your consultation with our physician.
FAQs About Lasers and Light Therapies
What is laser therapy and how does it work?
Laser therapy is a safe, effective, and commonly used treatment, providing optimal results in areas such as the removal of unwanted hair, skin rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, treatment of spider veins, tattoo removal, and the treatment of acne. Lasers work by delivering an intense beam of light that is absorbed by the skin. This light is converted to heat and is absorbed by the cells being targeted while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected.
What is light-based therapy (intense pulsed light) and how does it work?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is an effective way to rejuvenate the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. Light-based treatments use a less intense, broader spectrum of light than lasers but are effective in treating skin pigments, rosacea, small blood vessels, collagen skin rejuvenation, and hair removal.
Which type of Laser or Light-Therapy is best for me?
There are various treatment options utilizing our state-of-the-art laser and light systems for many skin problems. Treatments for wrinkle reduction, hair removal, acne treatment, vascular lesions, and skin rejuvenation are among them. Our qualified physician will decide which laser or light system will be the best and most effective for your individual needs and desired results.
What is Laser Hair Removal? Is it permanent?
In the past, the usual remedies for unwanted hair were plucking, shaving, waxing, chemical depilatories or electrolysis. Some are painful, some are messy, and all are only temporary.
Today, with our state-of-the-art laser systems, unwanted hair can be removed faster and with much less discomfort. Laser, a highly concentrated light beam, targets the pigment located in the hair follicles and destroys the growing hair follicles. Our laser is equipped with a special contact-cooling handpiece to protect and cool the surrounding skin while the laser energy works on the hair follicle. This process also reduces the pain that is associated with laser treatment.
The length of a laser session may be as little as a few minutes, depending on the area being treated. Since the laser can only treat hair follicles in the active growth phase, five to six treatments are typically required to disable the hair follicles. Laser hair removal is not always permanent. The treatment can reduce the number of hair follicles in the area to be treated. Some hair may re-grow and may require touch-up treatments periodically.
Are lasers and IPL treatments safe?
Yes, laser and light-based treatments have been used for many years for a variety of medical and cosmetic procedures. The equipment that we use are the safest and most effective technologies available on the market today.
Are there any adverse side-effects to laser or light-based treatments?
In the hands of a qualified health care provider, most procedures have a very low risk of adverse side effects. Rare patients can experience temporary pigment changes in skin color. If this occurs, the skin will typically return to normal pigmentation over time.
Is my laser or light-based treatment covered by my medical insurance?
Insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures.

FAQs About Fillers
Can you tell me a little bit about Restylane and other dermal fillers?
Restylane is a natural cosmetic filler called hyaluronic acid which is present in our body that provides fullness and support to the skin. Since hyaluronic acid is found in all animals, it is not only safe and non-allergenic but also effective. It is most commonly used to fill in the skin folds of the mid-face as well as for lip enhancement. Since topical or local anesthesia is used, pain is minimal, and there is minimal to no downtime. In addition to Restylane, we also use Belotero, Refyne, and Radiesse.
I would like fuller lips, but if I have dermal filler injection will my lips be exaggerated?
Most women just want fuller, but not exaggerated, lips. The Medical Spa tailors the amount of injection per the request of our patients. However, we always take a conservative approach and use just enough to give a more natural look. If more filler is required, then we can always inject more at a touch-up session.
